🏡 Meet Ariel, a first-time homeowner living in a modern small home with her kiddo, Audrey, and now her partner, Whitney. Homeownership was out of reach when Ariel was a single mom living in an expensive area of Washington until she discovered the Kulshan Community Land Trust. This housing hack uses an innovative model to keep housing affordable long-term, even as market values increase. 🛠️ They partnered with West Coast Homes, a builder of small modular homes & tiny houses, to build an 81.5 sqm / 878 sqft one-story house that fits on a tiny corner lot, maximizes its relatively small space to provide 3 bedrooms, and uses tall ceilings to make it feel bigger than it is.

The house is nice but not very small. We rent a home that is probably only a bit smaller than a modern 2 bedroom house would be and it’s just 480sq ft [to use your measurements]. This one is nearly twice the size but maybe you are comparing it to a normal US home. Very nice though and ideal for a family who aren’t earning huge sums of money
This is a lovely opportunity for people who need it but in no way is this a ‘tiny home’!
