This $20K tiny house sits hidden inside a thriving urban permaculture food forest in the heart of suburban Perth.
On just 728 square metres, Jodie has transformed an ordinary city block into an abundant urban homestead, complete with food forests, rainwater harvesting, chickens, shared living, and a beautiful tiny home built from a reclaimed shed.
Her 4m x 3m tiny house cost around $20,000 to build and is perfectly tucked into the garden. Featuring a stunning cordwood wall made from recycled timber, a loft bedroom, compact galley kitchen, outdoor shower, and composting toilet, this affordable tiny house proves that small space living can create extraordinary freedom.
By renting out the main house and downsizing into her backyard tiny home, Jodie has redesigned her life. She now works part time, grows much of her own food, and shares her permaculture garden with a small community.
In a world where urban blocks are being paved and built out, this tiny home and thriving food forest offer a different path. One that proves abundance, community and simplicity can still flourish in the city.

Now here is an episode packed full of so many of my favourite things! We have a brilliant (and super affordable) tiny home, natural building, a permaculture garden and thriving food forest, a wonderful community and all of this just a stones throw from the city. Jodie has created magic here! We hope you enjoy the tour! Thanks as always for watching and supporting our channel. With Love, Bryce & Rasa
Beautiful! Stunning! This is Heaven on Earth!
Can i come to visit you?
This looks so amazing! Loved this!
Rainwater isn’t safe to drink anymore because of PFAS chemicals. Should really divert that collection tank for her own safety 😢
I Love this! 🥰 Why will it have to be bulldozed some day? That made me 😔
I wanted to watch this, but I cannot stand the way that woman adds the little high pitch in her voice at the end of words and sentences. Seriously annoying. Maybe I’ll catch the next one.
I would choose this house to live in over any high-rise condos or mansions.
I love Merv the Perv! I hope he somehow survives the bulldozing 😢. A lovely place.
Beautiful ❤
Incredibly inspiring. Go slow and create bit by bit.
simple defined soo beautifully, I hope more people live like this, world would have been soo much better
I don’t believe I own the food I have either. I’ll always share it. That’s the key. Own less, give more.
