VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Housing is one of the most expensive parts of modern life. What if you could eliminate most of those costs and gain more freedom than you ever imagined?

In this video, Richard shares a detailed tour of his DIY off-grid homestead and the 250 sq ft tiny house on wheels he built from scratch. After living on this property for over a decade, he has perfected a lifestyle centered on financial independence, renewable energy, and sustainable water systems.

Inside the 250 Sq Ft Tiny House
This custom-built home on a gooseneck trailer was designed specifically for a 6’2″ occupant, prioritizing headroom and functionality over traditional cramped lofts.

Modern Kitchen Renovation: Features concrete countertops, a two-basin sink, and a high-efficiency compact dishwasher that saves significant amounts of water compared to handwashing.

Off-Grid Appliances: Learn how a two-burner stove, air fryer, and an apartment-sized refrigerator meet 95% of cooking needs while running entirely on solar power.

Gooseneck Bedroom: A spacious sleeping area with a queen-sized bed, accessible by stairs rather than a ladder, featuring a low-draw heated and cooling mattress pad for climate control.

Sustainable Systems: Solar Power and Rainwater Catchment
Living in the Sonoran Desert requires smart resource management. Richard explains his transition to being 100% water and power independent.

Solar Energy Setup: A massive 12,000-watt solar array with 16,000 watts of battery storage. This system powers the entire home, a mini-split AC, and even an electric pottery kiln.

Rainwater Harvesting: With 6,000 gallons of storage and 1,200 sq ft of catchment roof space, this system provides a comfortable 100 gallons of water per week.

The Buried School Bus: Explore the unique underground pottery studio and office, built from a repurposed bus for natural insulation and temperature control.

Financial Independence and the FIRE Movement
This video explores how tiny house living serves as a tool for the FIRE movement (Financial Independence, Retire Early). By eliminating a mortgage, utility bills, and high property taxes, Richard transitioned from a traditional corporate career to pursuing fine arts and pottery at 34.

Portable Power with Bluetti

  1. I love your coffee mug! Did you make that? Do you have a store to order the items you make?

  2. Hi there, thanks for this cool Video. Really like your set up. By the way… you look tired. I just wanted to suggest you try the Carnivore Lifestyle, if you haven’t already. I’m from Switzerland and have been Carnivore for nearly 2 years. It’s helped me a lot with my healing/health journey. Greetings from Switzerland, Manuela

    Thank You for sharing (๑╹◡╹๑)ノ💕

  4. Basically, someone who is lucky. This is but a far away dream for someone like me. Almost impossible.

  5. I could not see myself living in a place the size of one of my bedrooms. I am so glad I have a house that’s paid for so all I have are utilities, taxes, insurances and food. All very do-able which allow me to live very comfortably and no longer have to work. My home is small but I’d go nuts in something as small as what he has. Good for him though, as long as he is happy!

  6. WOW, Smart build and set up with the solar /water , workshop and so on love this !. Real nice laid out tiny .Richard has a good head on his shoulder and smarts when it comes to finances . Love the sunk in Bus super idea . Well done !

  7. Well, it’s hardly living in a tiny house when you have outbuildings and live on an acreage without a wife or children or, apparently, even pets.
