VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Emerald invites viewers into her beautifully customized 396 sq ft tiny home, built by Dakota Cabins of Texas. From the moment you step inside, the space radiates warmth, comfort, and personality. With a downstairs bedroom-turned-dressing room, a cozy loft, and an open-concept bathroom, this home was designed with both function and style in mind.
Emerald shares her journey from a traditional 1,300 sq ft home to a downsized lifestyle that reflects her values and aesthetic. From strategic storage solutions to personal touches like a family heirloom hutch and deep blue cabinetry, every decision tells a story.
Home Features and Layout:
-396 sq ft layout with a downstairs flex room and full loft
-Open-concept bathroom with washer/dryer and custom carved live-edge shelving
-Two-burner electric cooktop, deep sink, and compact fridge
-Separate loft bedroom with queen bed and play space
-Large covered porch and custom flower bed skirting
-No oven or dishwasher for improved storage optimization
-Design Priorities and Customizations
Emerald worked closely with her builder to incorporate cabin-style wood, vibrant blue cabinetry, and custom shelves to reflect her personality. She repositioned the stairs to increase bathroom and loft space, and opted out of typical skirting in favor of integrated garden beds.
Other unique decisions include:
-A full-size bathroom made possible by reworking the entry layout
-Incorporating heirloom furniture like a grandmother’s hutch and great-grandmother’s wicker chairs
-Using the downstairs bedroom as a combination closet, lounge, and laundry space
-Financing and Placement Details
-Base model: $121,000
-Final cost with upgrades: $181,000
-Down payment: $20,000
-Mortgage: $1,500/month on a 10-year term
Land: Placed on family property with utility hookups and septic installation
Emerald discusses her experience financing in Texas, where options are limited but manageable with the right builder relationships. She compares the process to traditional home buying and shares how this path made homeownership more accessible.

Crazy way to much money.
You had the land and utilities. You could have built a small traditional home near your parents that would have appreciated over time. At 187,000$ that’s a very pricey tiny. You could still build a home and use this as a rental.
Your parent’s home is incredible!! I thought it was a business at first but saw the pool, interior green space. Their design so smart for winds, heat and snow.
Scusa il terreno è compreso?
$1500.00 is too expensive…no thank you!
Gorgeous tiny home. Lovely design and upgrades. Well done! ❤
I would rather use back room as my bedroom and the loft for storage and crafts or hanging out
This house is very nice. I love the colors. The area appears relaxed and cozy. I love natural light, and you have a lot of it. It’s nice that you have the house on your parents’ land. You’re close to family, and you have privacy.
Absolutely stunning home! The best part is it is your vision, your dream you brought to life and did not compromise. Yay you! TY for sharing your story lovely lady and all good wishes for happiness in your home. great ideas. Wonderful to see a “not cookie cutter’ home. Inspiring!
The only thing, I would have done different is in the back room. I would have extended the 2 upper cabinets on each side all the way down to the countertops and made hanging space. I could not stand crawling on my knees every night to get in bed. and I would have had more seating area in the living room around the first door. Is that your parents BIG house with the pool?
Dang, thats a Huge ” Tiny Home” Very Lovely indeed!, & on ur parents property is a Plus👍🤪🤗
Absolutely stunning home. I love the navy blue.
I love the kitchen and bathroom but the living room doesn’t do it for me.
