VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
In this tour, Diane shares her beautifully crafted 10×28 tiny home built by Trailer Made and custom-designed by a master builder known for exceptional craftsmanship. For anyone researching how to downsize, live more affordably, or transition into a rural tiny home lifestyle, this walkthrough is a detailed look at what intentional small-space design can truly accomplish.
Diane’s kitchen sits at the heart of her home and reflects the priorities of many downsizers: practical appliances, custom cabinetry, and smart workflow. Her space features a four-burner cooktop, convection oven, inset craftsman doors, a 50/50 sink for real cooking and cleaning, 2 cm granite countertops, and an artistic backsplash she hunted down in Albuquerque. Every cabinet and drawer was built with intention, including reclaimed Singer sewing-machine drawers turned into wine storage.
Humidity control, airtight insulation, and energy efficiency play a major role in her daily life. Diane explains why a robust dehumidifier is necessary in winter and how her MrCool DIY mini-split cools the entire home within minutes while keeping operational costs low. She breaks down installation, efficiency, and why the system is ideal for DIY tiny home owners.
Her living area doubles as a dining space and work zone, centered around a custom horizontal Murphy bed that frees up floor area for guests, card games, and everyday life. A natural-gas fireplace provides clean, efficient winter heat at a cost that rarely exceeds twenty dollars a month.
Diane’s story also includes the financial path to her build: the cost of her Trailer Made chassis, construction pricing before material spikes, and how purchasing land from her builder changed the trajectory of her retirement. Her reflections mirror what many viewers express in polls and comments: a desire to escape metro congestion, embrace nature, and reclaim independence through simple living.
Her bathroom is intentionally oversized, featuring a claw-foot tub, large vanity, medicine cabinet, and a fully enclosed water closet. A cedar-lined closet, air-drying system, awning windows, and thoughtful storage show how small homes can support real daily routines without compromise. Upstairs, her loft includes eight windows, egress points, and the flexibility to sleep two people when needed.
Outdoors, Diane highlights the value of owning land: garden space, tool storage, containers for equipment, room for kayaks and bicycles, and the ability to create a peaceful lifestyle surrounded by wildlife and mountain views.
This tour speaks directly to viewers looking for a more grounded way of living. Diane shares why she no longer wants a large home, how downsizing improved her quality of life, and why financial stability and personal freedom matter more to her than square footage. For retirees, solo women preparing to downsize, or anyone exploring tiny home living in rural environments, her story provides clarity, practical details, and inspiration.

Who is the builder?
It’s perfect. Plenty of storage, beautiful and very practical. I live in an RV temporarily, and I thank God every day. I used to own a 2200 sq ft home, 3 car garage, horses, stalls, barn, arena and 3 acres. Too much for me to maintain after my husband passed away and our 5 children grew up.
Like you, I just want to have a small, practical home where I can enjoy nature, and my grandkids. Im tired of the rat race. After bringing up five children, Im ready to slow down, but I love flowers and vegetable gardening, woodworking, sewing, crochetting and painting.
What a lovely tiny home. I’m so impressed with all the perfect choices selected. I want this one🥰
What a absolutely wonderful and warm human being! She would be great to hang out with! I absolutely love her home and the lifestyle that she has created for herself.
What an amazing home! It’s gorgeous, and so very well-thought-out in every detail! The outdoor areas are beautiful! Saving in my favorites! ❤💐
BTW “Natural” Gas is METHANE. One of the worst Green House Gases.
This home is truly a masterpiece! 3D artistry at its finest! I am so sorry to hear that the man who created this is no longer with us, but he left a legacy that IMO is unmatched! Those inset cabinet doors are so impressive! Just WOW! Diane all things came together in perfect harmony for you to be able to do this. It is definitely a manifestation of your soul! And what a beautiful soul you are! 💚💙💜
